How did you first get into Bookkeeping?

I did a Bachelor of Administration at University and majored in Tourism, however the core degree was the same as the Accounting  I was working in a Mortgage broking firm on the Gold Coast and they took on a Bookkeeping arm and they asked if I’d like to be trained in Bookkeeping – I jumped at the chance and I’ve never looked back!  That was in 2005.

What keeps you passionate about Bookkeeping?

Ultimately the people.  I love being able to train clients so their business runs smoothly and help them understand what their obligations are and how to reach them.  I have always been an early adopter of Technology so I think it’s pretty cool to be able to combine the two.

What sort of businesses do you work with?

I work a lot with Tradies and Corporate Businesses.  I like variety in my clients and I certainly get that!

What is the biggest mistake business make when establishing bookkeeping processes?

Not getting someone in to help them get set up and started! It might cost a few hundred dollars to get some help to show you the basics in Xero and to set up your Accounts and payroll but it could potentially save you thousands in the long run.

What do you like to do for fun?

I like walking and singing and hanging out with my two boys – my husband and my son.
